Wynn Toke Issue

What follows is feedback given by a Wynn Dealer about this issue.

"I am a Wynn dealer and would like to explain to you just what Steve Wynn has done. A lot of people think because we make good money that we can afford to lose it. What if you don't make good money can you afford to give 40% of a share to your floorpeople and 20% of a share to your boxpeople?

You also must know that we don't get to even count our tokes. Security picks up the toke boxes and delivers them to a room where sometime (always different times of day) soft count does the counting. Who knows if anyone or owner is stealing. We have had 5,000 dollar chips missing and not one person will stand up for us. Not gaming, not the politicians  (exception Bob Beers [Assembly]).

Steve Wynn is the one that took our tokes into paychecks. How many casinos still have envelopes? Not very many, everyone followed suit. He also got rid of the maitre d' at the shows. How many hotels have the maitre d' any longer? They all followed suit. You can't be naive enough to think that they won't follow suit with the taking of tokes when it saves the company millions in pay. Face the facts if we lose in the Supreme Court, all companies are going to follow suit. Don't wait too long. Vote union and save this from happening to you. Remember better pay, benefits, and keeping what you earn. Go get them and stick together.  It's easier than you think. Stay strong!!!!!!"

We have been given contact information for this Wynn Dealer who wrote us.  If you have any questions about their situation, they want to help stop rumors and misinformation.  Send us your question and we will relay it.

If our President wishes to discuss anything that is happening at The Wynn, we have direct contact with the dealers involved and will set the record straight.

Outside of sharing their earnings with supervisors, Wynn Dealers are not even allowed into the room when tokes are counted!  Dealers cannot even watch their own money when it is counted.  As the Wynn Dealer stated, Steve Wynn was the first one to put tips on paychecks, and everybody else followed.  He implemented this tip policy, and Harrah's has since issued these conflicting statements.  We cannot trust them in this matter.  These are our livelihoods at stake.  You can do something to stop this!  Step forward.

For the most part, Harrah’s can still do whatever it wants. The Wynn Dealers' court case still has not been decided, and should it not turn out the dealers’ favor, Harrah’s would be obligated to follow suit. Remember, Harrah’s will do what it can to maximize profits, unless it involves taking wagers on Celtics games. There have been conflicting statements from the company on this issue, and even if Mr. Loveman issued a statement and made it policy, they can change policy at any time, as stated in the Employee Handbook.  Again, here are a few statements that Harrah's has made on the issue.
