Distractions and Sideshows |
|
There is more content about how Harrah's misled Caesars Palace Dealers here: This page includes irrelevant material that Harrah's used in other Union drives. Then again, Management is anti-Union. Harrah's used off-topic sideshows like these with Caesars Palace Dealers to avoid true issues. Harrah's is expected to waste more of your time on the same topics here, as they have touched on these distractions with us already. These are some of the cards that they played during the Caesars Palace drive.
Sideshow #1: TWU fined, President jailed in process of obtaining Contract. A quote from the article: Amalgamated Transit Union [different Union] leader Larry Hanley praised [TWU] Local 100 for winning what he called, “the best contract I’ve seen over the last three years.” Harrah's did not inform Dealers about one simple fact here. TWU was fined, and Mr. Toussaint was jailed while TWU MEMBERS GAINED. That's the opposite of what has happened with Dealers and Harrah's. Since the "Gary Loveman era" started, WE LOST while Harrah's GAINED. That is just one more reminder of the stark contrast between not-for-profit Unions and for-profit corporations. Who among our executive staff would go to jail to get us a better Contract? Would our CEO, Gary Loveman, go to jail to get US a better legally binding agreement?
Sideshow #2: Contract from a recently demolished casino. Harrah's neglected to inform Dealers the following:
Sideshow #3: Union membership declined since the 1970's. True, Union membership saw declines in the past few decades, UNTIL NOW. Union membership has actually been INCREASING, and for good reason. The obvious fact that is overlooked about previous declines: manufacturing jobs have been shipped across borders and overseas, as it is cheaper for corporations to pay pennies on the dollar for overseas labor. Everybody may see the evidence of this by reading the "MADE IN..." label on products on store shelves. Many of those products used to be made by Union U.S.A. workers until executive greed resulting in moving factories overseas. There is no risk of Harrah's moving any of Bill's, Harveys, or Harrah's overseas!
Sideshow #4: Salaries of TWU staff. The President of TWU, its highest ranking person, earns just over three times what our highest earning Dealer makes. With the buyout in this year alone, Harrah's CEO Gary Loveman, has earned over one thousand times what our highest paid Dealer makes, plus TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS ON TOP OF THAT!!! Take into consideration that TWU represents 60% more people than Harrah's employs, and the discrepancy is magnified even more per worker.
Much of what follows is irrelevant to our Union drive. Don't waste your time. On the subject of distractions, here is a sample of some of Harrah's legal troubles: TRPA committee proposes raising fines for Harveys Jury awards $1M to former Harrah's security employee Criminal citations set in Harrah's remodeling Harrah's fined, chided for not cooperating with Gaming Commission Harrah's Fined $40,000 for Marketing to Problem Gamblers Harrah’s buyers face $2.8 billion problem "$2,800,000,000 problem" dwarfs anything that TWU has ever encountered. Harrah's may also poke fun at various things said on our amateur website over the past couple of months. Before doing so, they may wish to take a closer look at their own website. This text was found on their Lake Tahoe page in March, 2008: Harrah's will be unvieling two new gaming products in April: Blackjack Switch and Slingo... ...Caribbean Stud Poker offers players the challenge of poker, but uses an easier-to-play format, plus the first-ever progressive play jackpot offered with a table game. Caribbean Stud Poker is a casino favorite, partly because it's so simple to learn, but mostly because of the unique poker excitement this innovative game provides. What makes Caribbean Stud stand out is the opportunity to make an side bet, where you can win all (or a portion) of an expanding progressive jackpot. This is the easiest way to play poker! Yes, much of the above content is as relevant as the distractions that Harrah's provides in its anti-Union meetings. Harrah's tries bashing Unions with irrelevant material. If our Union will not be good for us, then why do they fight this? |
