"Wait and See" Delay Tactics |
|
Yes, our management is asking us to "wait and see" what happens with The Wynn Dealers and the Caesars Palace Dealers. They may even be saying things like, "If the Dealers at those properties get a good contract, you would be foolish not to do the same. But please, wait and see what happens there first" Well, we have several problems with the "wait and see" approach. First of all, the casinos are also "waiting" on the results of the toke issue at The Wynn. Remember this, they are ALL in bed together. If you don't believe that, take a look at the "Nevada Resort Association" (their corporate "union") or the "American Gaming Association". Of course they want all of the Dealers to "wait and see" what happens! We know who runs the State of Nevada, the casinos. Just as the farmers run the State of Iowa. How do you think the courts will decide when it comes to the "toke issue" at The Wynn? They already skirted the law in the Nevada Revised Statutes which seemed pretty clear to all of us. They are not done yet. Why don't you all just sit back and "wait and see." If the Dealers of this State sit back and do nothing, then when the courts rule in favor of Steve Wynn, you will stand to lose 20% of your income overnight. Is this what you want to "wait and see" happen? We know we are in the gaming industry, but to gamble with your own income like that is ridiculous! Next, once everyone can see past WHY the casinos want you to take the "wait and see" approach, realize this: The more casinos we can organize as fast as possible, the greater our strength will be in negotiations. Not just the strength of the Wynn Dealers and the Caesars Palace Dealers, but the strength of ALL Dealers. Once WE vote OUR Union in, they can no longer make any unilateral changes to your working conditions or benefits. We lock in "status quo." This means, even if the courts rule in favor of Steve Wynn, as long as you have voted the Union in, they can NOT touch your tokes without YOUR permission at the bargaining table!
