Harrah’s forced us to work hour-twenties!

It was stated that nobody in house is capable of making the decision to go back to “hours” instead of “hour-twenties”. The decision must made from higher executives who are not even in Tahoe.

We have no LEGAL representative in house!
-***** is only in Harrah’s corporate chain of command.
-***** cannot protect our tips. Our Union can.
-Management continues to take all of us for granted.
-That’s a major reason why we continue to lose benefits.

Steve Wynn made the same claim that he was the Dealers’ representative, even after taking their tips! It is a fact that he NEVER tried to give Dealers their tips back. Harrah’s misled you again.

TPG/Apollo refuses to guarantee that our tips are safe!

What is happening in Las Vegas:
-Management seizes Dealer tips for redistribution
-Management eliminated the toke committee
-Management gives Dealer tips to other employees
-Dealers lose around $15,000-$20,000 per year
-Dealers are not present when tokes are counted!

This could happen to us without our Union

This is fact, not fear.

It will be the new owners, TPG/Apollo, who decide on the seizing of our tips for redistribution. There is nothing that ***** or any manager will be able to do to stop it.

Turning the Tables and Hour-Twenties

Does Management sincerely listen to our committee?

Apparently, this is how “Turning the Tables” works:
-Turning the Tables members poll us about our concerns
T.T.T. members approached Management about 1:20
-Meetings were held to “communicate” why we and “Turning the Tables” committee members are wrong.
-Meetings left out the obvious: we have more energy working the standard “hours”, and we earn more tokes when we have more energy.

Management, none having ever actually worked the hour-twenty, claims that we need it. If “Turning the Tables” is what they claim, management would have done as the committee asked, and we would no longer be working hour-twenties!

Locking in “Status Quo” will cost you nothing.

Once we vote our Union in, we lock in our current situation. TPG/Apollo will not be able to change any policy without our permission.

On April 7, the toke confiscation issue will be heard by The Nevada Supreme Court.
With “Status Quo” toke confiscation cannot happen here!

By locking in “Status Quo,” they cannot…
-eliminate toke committee
-take our tips for redistribution
-take away our pay raises again
-reduce or eliminate their 401k contribution
-reduce medical coverage for those who have it
-increase out-of-pocket expenses for medical insurance
-change Bill’s to allow smoking!

“Status Quo” maintains our standard of living.

With Our Union

Our tips are protected.
WE elect our own bargaining committee.
Our Union surveys US about OUR needs and acts on OUR behalf.
WE are the ones who vote to approve our Contract.
WE vote on every major issue.
WE stop TPG/Apollo from taking whatever they wish.
WE would no longer have to accept dictation without representation!

Meet The New Owners

Our future sellers, TPG/Apollo, are private equity investors

Private equity investors are laser focused on one goal: massive short-term profits. They accomplish that goal by slashing costs, restructuring, then selling again.

Their focus isn’t increasing revenues with marketing and investing in the employees and property. This can have harsh consequences for us, Harveys, Bill’s and Harrah’s.

TPG/Apollo make their money by restructuring and selling as quickly as possible. They will sell us again.

Typically, private equity investors only hold a company for a couple years. Layoffs are common during the short ownership of a company. Local layoff announcements have started already as TPG/Apollo is closing the Minden Call Center.

Apollo/TPG has NO casino experience.
TPG had a deal blocked due to plans with huge cutbacks.

TWU now represents Caesars Palace and Wynn Dealers.
TWU brings us clout by joining with Las Vegas Dealers.

TWU is collecting cards from Dealers of our sister properties in Nevada.

To Our Fellow Dealers,

Our organizing committee is devoted to the quality and security of our benefits and careers. It is NOT about division. It is not about any kind of anger that others claim we have, and it is not about getting even.

There are sound reasons why we wish to unite ourselves. We are not troublemakers. We are not hired goons. We are your coworkers, neighbors, friends, and relatives. We go to the same parks, shops, and restaurants. Our kids attend the same schools.

This Union drive is not directed at our Managers or their responsibility to maximize company profits. However, since maximizing company profits is their primary obligation, it puts them at odds with their ability to fully represent on our behalf. Still, our Managers are wonderful people, and we enjoy working with them.

Many of us do not understand what a Union involves and how it can benefit our community. Do not let the skeptics distort what our Union will be. They try to make our Union the unknown, but ultimately, we are the Union and it will be we who decide on the issues presented.

As individuals who pool their tips, we need upbeat coworkers who are also contributors. After all, Harrah’s success is ours as well. We want a continued positive work environment and believe that it can be even better than it is. Harrah’s is the largest employer inside the Lake Tahoe Basin, and the well-being of its employees has ripple effects within our community.

A Union brings democracy to our jobs. The democracy we are privileged to have as citizens of the United States is the same democracy we can have at work.

The literature that you will continue to see is this democracy in action.
